As you are hopefully aware, G&E Projects are specialists when it comes to commercial premises. Designing and building the perfect space for your business, complete refurbishments, or fit-outs for entire establishments whether it’s an office, a medical centre, or anything in between.
You might think it could be a bit of a busman’s holiday to work on our own base of operations but, on the contrary, there was an awful lot of passion and excitement around this project throughout.
Starting with a relatively blank canvas, the team were very keen to put their stamp on our new offices and we’re pleased to report that it is now, as you’d expect, a perfect blend of form and function which lends itself to creativity, collaboration, and productivity. There’s also a pool table, naturally.
When designing a commercial space for our clients, we’re always keen to create something that is not just a good, functional place to work - but also a fun and inspiring place to be.
A quick tour of our new space at The Briars will show you that we apply the same logic to our own premises. Depending on your type of business, it’s rare these days that a completely open plan approach will be appropriate. Similarly, the seas of cubicles immortalised in pop culture from Office Space to The Matrix have largely fallen out of favour, particularly in organisations where collaboration and general employee morale are valued. It’s important to strike a balance between an airy, open feel and some more closed off areas for focused work or small-team collaboration - that’s why you’ll see a healthy mix of open plan and dedicated office/meeting spaces.
We’re fortunate to have a reasonable amount of natural light coming in to our new digs thanks to an abundance of windows - coupled with a good splash of greenery around the place (including a very fetching moss wall) it feels like we’ve managed to bring a good chunk of the outside in - again this is about balance; plants and light are excellent but we’ve stopped short of fully exposing the G&E team to the elements.
Our details and designs across the flooring and walls make the most of all space and turned a previously drab, empty space into a workplace that’s bright, pleasant, and fit for purpose - very G&E.
