The Pyramids - Case study

G&E Projects were appointed as the Principal Contractor for Phase Two of The Pyramids remodelling project. Although not actually a two-stage tender process, we carried out design development for the project.

The brief:

The project comprised extensive demolition works, and new partitioning and internal fit-out works, to form the new layout.

This included alterations to the existing mechanical systems, extensive new electrical and lighting systems, and plumbing installations. The high-tech gym facility is complimented by new studios, all incorporating comprehensive sound systems and feature lighting. All floor and wall finishes were completed to a high standard. The changing rooms were fitted out to a premium specification, with new showers, cubicles, WCs, IPS and vanity units, and digitally secured lockers. The design was developed during the early stages of the project, and continued to be refined throughout the build process, ensuring the best quality and value was applied to all finishes throughout.

We committed our previous experience of working in the leisure industry to the benefit of the project. We worked directly with the client’s and the centre operator’s project team, and the design team, to coordinate this design and build project throughout. This included close attention to detail to ensure that the facility met the operational needs of the client and their gym users’ needs.

Although the gym facility was closed to the public, the ground floor of the Pyramids was a live environment, so planning deliveries and meetings was key to a successful and safe delivery of this project.

This fast-track fit out was completed on time and on budget to a very high standard to the delight of all involved. There have been numerous positive comments and positive reviews of the new facility, and we are justly proud of the achievement.
